Professional Production Space

Production teams are able to book the entire space in full or an individual studio of their choice. They make booking a professional production space easy!

Customization:

Each space can be rearranged and customized for your own production set design. All of the main shooting spaces are able to be customized to the production need. Furniture can be removed to reveal a nearly empty room on both floors thanks to freight elevators and a large basement for storage. All wall art can be removed.

Amenities:

The space also includes two unisex restrooms, one on each floor, a wet bar with two shop sinks that include a full-size fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and additional mini fridge. There is a freight elevator rated for 1500lbs for easy load-in.

Motive operates out of a 120-year-old brick and hardwood building in downtown Kansas City. The space is surrounded by other retail businesses and is flanked by a large parking lot to the east.

Light:

The space boasts 160-inch non-soundproof front retail windows on the first floor facing west that let in abundant ambient light and direct sunlight later in the day. The 2nd floor’s west wall is also a set of large 140-inch windows.  The east side of the building includes smaller but similarly tall windows on the 2nd floor.

Sound:

Our space is not acoustically sound-treated nor is it soundproof. As with any downtown location, occasional sounds are bound to be heard from outside the premises. We’ve hosted high-profile clients who have shot interviews and have been able to capture professional-quality sound. The main shooting areas on both floors are 75ft x 22 ft, while the crew areas are 700sqft each respectively. Ceilings reach 16ft on the first floor and 14 feet on the second. This lends itself to reverberation off of the stucco and brick walls. Production crews looking to shoot interviews should plan to bring sound-deadening tools if crystal-clear audio is paramount.

Parking & Accommodations

Crew & Clients have a few options for parking.

1. Street Parking in front of the building on McGee St.

2. Lot Parking behind the building. Up to 5 spots.

Building Access:

Crew & Clients can access our building and spaces via lockboxes at the front and rear of the building. For ADA accessibility please use the entrance at the back of our building. Having Trouble? Call Us: 816-693-6535

Crew & Clients have two ways they can get to our space:

Front Access (Clients, Talent)
Enter through the front door on the west side of the building at McGee st. Use the stairs to the left to access the 2nd floor.

Rear Access (Crew & Additional Team)
Proceed to the east side of the building at the back near the parking lot. Take the stairs or freight elevator to access the 2nd floor or the door directly ahead to access the first floor.
